My Best Friend's Wedding!

Hello & happy Thursday!  It has been a quick week and I am not complaining because on Saturday, we are headed to the BEACH!  Woohoo!  This past weekend was amazing - my best friend (since birth!) got married and it was a beautiful day!

And on Sunday, we headed down to Open Streets Pittsburgh again and had a blast walking and biking around - and making s'mores on the sidewalk, ha!

Time to go pack for the beach!
See ya after vacation - cheers!*

Celebrating Our 4 Year Anniversary!

4 years in the books!  Wow does time fly.  I feel like our wedding was just yesterday and a million years ago all at the same time.  I was looking through some pictures from that glorious day in August 2010 and it made me want to relive it all over again (and again and again...)!  What a perfect day.

We had a great time celebrating this year!  Brett got me the most beautiful summery flowers and they immediately brightened up the whole house.  We went to dinner at a cute little local Italian restaurant (Franco's Trattoria), where we dined outside on the patio surrounded by twinkle lights.  And then on our way home, we stopped for desserts (delicious cupcakes!) to eat while we opened our wedding box!  We read our letters from the previous year and had a blast strolling down memory lane, thinking about all the wild and crazy things we've done since our 3rd wedding anniversary (and there are a lot!).  And then it was time to place the new letters in the box, only to be locked up until our 5th anniversary next year.  I can't wait to see where we are then!

Babe, I love you so much!
And I can't wait for many many many more years
of exciting adventures together
in this little life of ours!

Celebrating Our 3 Year Anniversary!

Our 3 year anniversary!  I can't believe our wedding was 3 years ago.  It seems like yesterday and forever ago all at the same time.  Brett surprised me with the prettiest flowers, including a sunflower (our wedding flower)!  We celebrated with dinner at Thai Bamboo, a cute little restaurant only a short walk from our apartment.  And after a stop for some ice cream (!!), we strolled home to continue our yearly tradition of opening our wedding box!  We drank wine, read our letters from the previous year, and reflected back on our amazing wedding and all the excitement that has happened since our last anniversary. It's been quite a year!  And I couldn't imagining spending it with anyone other than Brett.  Now, our new letters are written and the box is locked back up until next year... I can't wait to see what's in store!

I love you times a million, Babe!
I can't wait to celebrate even more this weekend!
xoxo

(We are heading out on a little anniversary getaway this weekend!  Cheers!!*)

3 Years of Marriage!!

~ August 7th ~
The best date of all time.
Our wedding date!

Today marks 3 years that Brett and I have been married.
I can't believe it's been that long already.
Being married to Brett is seriously the best.
I'm pretty sure this picture sums up our marriage pretty well...
always smiling, always laughing, always enjoying ourselves.
Brett and I live for our great adventures we take through this life,
but I have to say this adventure in marriage is the best one of all.

Babe, you are the best husband of all time.
I cannot wait to celebrate tonight & open our box!
xoxo

2 Years of Marriage (!!)

Our 2nd wedding anniversary.  Wow, does time fly.  Brett surprised me with the most beautiful flowers (including sunflowers - our wedding flower!).  We celebrated with dinner outside at Bistro 19.  Lump crab guacamole, almond chicken & risotto, and the most delicious cheesecake caramel brownie for two.  Then came home to continue on with our yearly tradition of "opening the box".  Drinking wine, reading our letters from the previous year, and exchanging gifts.  All while reminiscing about our most perfect wedding day and the amazing 2 years of marriage we've had so far.  I really love this guy.

And now,
the new letters are written,
a new bottle of wine has been chosen,
and the box is all locked up.
Till next year...

Love you, Babe!

!! Two Year Anniversary !!

Today is August 7, 2012...
also known as
Brett and my two year wedding anniversary!!

I really can't believe it's already been two years.
It feels like just yesterday we were strolling through the woods in our wedding attire.
These past two years have been some of the best of my life.
I am so lucky to get to spend every single day enjoying life with my best friend.
I know everyone says that, but Brett really is my best friend.
I can't imagine going on adventures and exploring this amazing world with anyone else.

Babe, I LOVE you!
Can't wait to celebrate tonight and open our box!!

My New Bike!!

Over the weekend, Brett surprised me with my very own bike!!

I've been lusting after a bike of my very own for a couple years now... I had one before, but it was honestly a piece of crap and basically didn't work.  Brett is an avid mountain biker and looooves biking.  I love biking, too but I have always just rented a bike because I couldn't take the plunge to buy myself a new one.  Well, this weekend, Brett surprised me with my very own!  He let me pick it out and everything.  And I.LOVE.it!!!  We picked it up on Saturday and went on a mini bike ride that night.  Then, on Sunday morning of our anniversary, Brett took me to Frick Park to ride on the trails.  It was a little frightening at first, since I have never really "mountain" biked before, but after a little while of getting used to it, I LOVED it!  Maybe I'm not a super pro going on all the crazy hard single tracks like Brett does, but for now I am perfectly content taking this baby on the wider, easier, safer (read: not crazy hills) trails.  I am in LOVE!

Opening the Box...

This weekend was a great one.  Brett and I had such a wonderful time celebrating our one year anniversary.  We ended up not going out of town and thought it would be fun to just stay home and relax, instead of dealing with the hustle and bustle of traveling somewhere else (we'll save that for September!!).  We slept in, relaxed, went to some fun restaurants, watched fireworks, got a bike (!!), went bike riding, and just overall enjoyed each other's company.

As part of our wedding ceremony, we came up with the idea of a "wedding box".  I wanted to do something other than a unity candle or the unity sand.  Before the wedding, we got a nice wooden box with a lock and key.  We put a bottle of wine and two wine glasses inside.  Then, we each wrote a letter to each other before the wedding and asked our four parents to also write letters to us.  We could not look at them or open them.  Then, during our ceremony, the "wedding box" was front and center and at one point, we had our parents join us and we each placed our letters in the box with the wine and glasses.  Then, Brett and I locked the box up not to be opened until our one year anniversary.  The idea was that we would open the box on our one year anniversary, drink the wine, and read the letters, remembering why we fell in love and got married in the first place.  Then, each year thereafter, we would write new letters and add a new bottle of wine to the box to be locked up and not opened again until our next anniversary.  And so on and so forth.

So obviously, on Sunday we opened the box!!  Reading those letters and drinking the wine, sitting at our dining room table together last night made me so.happy.  The letters were unbelievably sweet, touching, and mean so much to us.  I am so so so happy we decided to do this.  We each wrote new letters on Sunday, sealed them up in the box with a new bottle of wine not to be opened until August 7, 2012.  We've decided to leave all the letters in the box from the previous years, so when they really start adding up we can look back and read them all.  I can't wait to see what the future holds and I love that we have a way to remember all the amazing things that have happened to us along the way.

It truly was the perfect one year anniversary.
I love this guy times a million.
