Christmas Time at Phipps

On Monday night, Brett and I went to Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens with my family.  Every year around this time, Phipps gets all dressed up for Christmas.  We try to go every year to see all the new decor and this year, they added a whole outdoor light garden.  Very awesome.  Phipps never disappoints.

The outside light garden...

And the beautifully decorated indoors...

Everything is just so much prettier at Christmas time!

Scenes from the Weekend

Homemade spice mixes are much better than store bought ones
Starting a new book (Just finished "The Joy of Less" and it changed my life, I swear!)
Brett's mom & sister came to visit and we discovered the largest piece of carrot cake in the world
Getting a jump start on my wrapping this year
This is what happens when your husband eats too many enchiladas for dinner :)

Only 8 more days until Christmas!
(and only 9 more days until SPAIN!!)

Moro Rock - Kings Canyon {California 2012 Recap}

The last hike we did in Kings Canyon National Park was Moro Rock.  I was almost not going to partake in the hike (because of my tooth) and just let Brett go, but once we got to the trail head, I couldn't resist.

Moro Rock is a granite dome rock formation that has a stairway cut into it so you can hike to the top.  That's 400 steps straight up to the top of the rock.  And on either side of you, all you see is a great plunge into the abyss.  The views at the top are seriously insane.  I am not generally afraid of heights, but I found myself clinging to the railing pretty much the entire time.

These were the stairs to get up and down...
(kinda frightening!)

And the view of the top from where we parked our car...

And the view from our car while driving down the mountain and out of the park...
(So so high up in the sky!  I can't believe we were at the top of it!)

Insane.  I am so glad I decided to do the hike.
I'll never forget that feeling of being on top of the world with Brett.

Christmas Tree Adventure 2012

On Saturday, Brett and I trekked out into the country side through the rain for a very important reason.  To find the perfect Christmas tree!!  We wander around the farm, up and down the hills, looking very closely at each tree until the most beautiful one was staring us in the face.  We took her home and dressed her all up.  And now she happily brightens up our living room for all the world neighbors to see.

And now for some cheeeese...

Want to see some more cheese?
Check out our Christmas tree videos from 2010 & 2011.
