Yosemite, Here We Come!

Today after work, Brett and I are hitting the road!

We're making an extra long weekend out of Labor Day and heading up the coast to spend 4 glorious days in Northern California.  We plan on spending a few days in the Santa Rosa / Sonoma / Napa area and then heading over to Yosemite to spend a few days in all our outdoorsy glory!  Catch ya next week!

Have a great weekend, friends!*
(and Happy Labor Day!)

Adventures with Lee & Jess

Well, our house guests have officially left as of 4am this morning.  We had so much fun having Lee & Jess here visiting.  We took them to all our favorite spots and but also had just as much fun hanging at our apartment playing endless rounds of Cards Against Humanity.

...introduced them to our favorite beach town: San Clemente...

...gave them their first awesome Pizza Port experience...

...and took them to various other breweries that we love, including the Bruery...

It was sooo nice having family here and being able to hang out with some of our favorite people.  We always have the best time together!

Lee and Jess, we miss you already!
Hope your flights go smoothly today and you get home safe!
Come back and visit again soon! :)

"Cards Against Humanity" - This game is RIDICULOUS!  Lee & Jess gave it to us as a gift and we have been playing it for the past 3 days straight.  It is hilarious!
Hanging at San Clemente, where Brett taught Lee how to surf!

We have been having SO much fun with Lee & Jess here!  They are still here and don't leave until Wednesday, so we have a few more days of fun ahead!

Happy (?) Monday!*

This week has been a good one!  Almost every night, we had something fun going on.  On Monday & Tuesday, we went to the Anaheim Angels vs. Cleveland Indians games.  Brett has always been a big Indians fan, so he was excited (and the Indians won both nights!).  We would have a few beers at a nearby brewery: Noble Ale Works and then walk over to the stadium for the game.  So fun!

And then last night, we headed down to San Clemente for some music on the beach!  We sat in the sand, watched the sun set, and listened to the fun sounds of a reggae band on the stage.  And then, of course, we walked up to Pizza Port for some brews!  A visit to San Clemente is never complete without a stop at Pizza Port.  :)  Ah, I love San Clemente.

It has been a great week!  AND it's going to be an even better weekend because Lee & Jess (my brother and sister-in-law) are visiting!!!  We are meeting them tonight at Stone Brewing Co. for dinner and then heading back to our place for a weekend full of awesomeness!  Can't wait!

Have a great weekend!!*

"Top of the World"

A little mid-week biking adventure -- Brett took me to the "top of the world" trail for some biking fun last night.  He has come here a few times before, but I have never been.  It was unusually foggy yesterday, so we couldn't see much, but Brett claims that, on a clear day, there are panoramic views of the ocean from this trail.  You could barely make out the water with all the fog rolling through.  I'll have to come back again on a clear day to get a better view.  But I have to say, the thick rolling fog was a pretty cool sight too.

Scenes from the Weekend

Anniversary getaway edition!

This past weekend, Brett and I headed up the California coast to the adorable town of Solvang for a mini getaway to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary.  We stayed in the cutest little bed and breakfast and the whole weekend was amazing!  The town was designed based on what Dutch towns look like.  There were windmills, flowers, and a million delicious dutch bakeries all throughout the town.  We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the streets and trying as many different kinds of dutch pastries that we could get our hands on.

We chose the town of Solvang for our little getaway partly because of the close proximity to a ton of amazing wineries in the area.  We spent all day Saturday checking out a few of the wineries, indulging in wine tastings, and enjoying a picnic lunch in the vineyards.

And when we weren't drinking wine, we were (of course) drinking beer!  Firestone Walker Brewing Company is only a 10 minute drive from Solvang and Brett has been wanting to go there for a looong time.  It has always been one of the main breweries that he has wanted to check out in California, but it never meshed with our schedule previously.  But fear not!  It did mesh with our schedule this weekend and we went 3 times.  Yeah, it was awesome.

After a glorious weekend away, we made our way back down the Pacific Coast Highway to head home.  But not without a little stop at the beach along the way, of course.

Perfect weekend spent celebrating our anniversary.
Love you so much, Babe!
