Anniversary getaway edition!
This past weekend, Brett and I headed up the California coast to the adorable town of Solvang for a mini getaway to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. We stayed in the cutest little bed and breakfast and the whole weekend was amazing! The town was designed based on what Dutch towns look like. There were windmills, flowers, and a million delicious dutch bakeries all throughout the town. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the streets and trying as many different kinds of dutch pastries that we could get our hands on.
We chose the town of Solvang for our little getaway partly because of the close proximity to a ton of amazing wineries in the area. We spent all day Saturday checking out a few of the wineries, indulging in wine tastings, and enjoying a picnic lunch in the vineyards.
And when we weren't drinking wine, we were (of course) drinking beer! Firestone Walker Brewing Company is only a 10 minute drive from Solvang and Brett has been wanting to go there for a looong time. It has always been one of the main breweries that he has wanted to check out in California, but it never meshed with our schedule previously. But fear not! It did mesh with our schedule this weekend and we went 3 times. Yeah, it was awesome.
After a glorious weekend away, we made our way back down the Pacific Coast Highway to head home. But not without a little stop at the beach along the way, of course.
