the sun is shining
it's hot outside
it's friday

this weekend i'll be spending all my time camping here:

brett & i are taking advantage of this nice 3 day weekend to head to johnstown to go camping at the quemahoning reservoir. this was our most favorite place when we lived in johnstown (and still is one of our favorite places).

i can't wait to...
be outdoors for 3 days straight
hike in the woods
build fires
swim in the lake
sleep in my cozy sleeping bag
watch the stars
stay up late around the fire just talking
spend time with great friends!

it's going to be a great weekend.
how are you guys taking advantage of the nice long weekend?!

i hope you all have so much fun!*

look at the clouds, look at the stars...
and if you have eyes, you will be able to see

"throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor"

i had a really lovely weekend. friday, we ended up going to mad mex instead of the pirates game. i had to redeem my coupon for a free birthday burrito! on saturday, we woke up bright and early and headed west to hermitage, pa to watch brett's sister in her track meet (she's going to the state championship!). then from there, we head up to erie for dan & breanne's stag n drag. a stag n drag is an erie thing (i've never heard of it before this) where a bride & groom-to-be have a little party to raise money for the wedding. i think it was a success! luckily it was inside because it poured down rain

then sunday was awesome! it was a gorgeous day - no rain in sight! brett & i spent the afternoon at the beach in erie, eating lunch and walking along the shore talking about our possible future endeavors... what we wanted to do with our lives, where we wanted to live, etc (more on that later). we also met up with brett's brother & family: scott, brooke, and bradley!

after a relaxing afternoon at the beach, we headed to north east (about 45 minutes outside of erie) where we had our engagement photo shoot with our AWESOME wedding photographers (heather neckers)! we met at their studio, then headed out to shoot in beautiful woods & fields with awesome trees, and a gorgeous vineyard. we had a blast! heather and murl were so laid-back, awesome, and talented, so it made the photo shoot really easy for us! i cannot wait to see all the photos - they had so many great ideas! we finished up the photo shoot around 8pm and it was time to head back to pittsburgh. we stopped at uncle charlies pub in edinboro for some late night pizza & beer on the way. then, finished the drive to pittsburgh having loud singalongs in the car.

it was a great weekend. i couldn't get over the beautiful scenery that surrounded us on sunday. we were outside all day long, surrounded by nature, and that's just how we like it. spending all day outside surrounded by trees, woods, fields, vineyards, & beaches makes me really dislike living in the city in pittsburgh. where we live, there are no fields of grass, no enchanting woods and trees, no place for us just to get lost in the beauty of nature. all we have is concrete sidewalks, big buildings, houses and apartment buildings crammed together with tons of people living side by side and just making the environment very chaotic and rushed. not at all what i want.

when we moved to the city in pittsburgh, we were excited because we looked forward to being able to walk out our front door and have the city right at our footstep - bars, restaurants, grocery stores, shops - it was city living and we wanted to experience that stage of our lives. but after almost a year and a half of city living, we are done. don't get me wrong, it's definitely been a blast and great experience living here. we've enjoyed this lifestyle and it's been neat to have such a variety of unique restaurants and bars close by. but now, we are growing out of that stage in our lives. we are ready to move on to a more laid-back, simple life, where we are surrounded by nature, not concrete, big buildings, sirens, and the hustle & bustle. this is pretty much what brett & i were discussing on sunday while we walked along the beach.

we've been feeling this way for a while now, sick of the city life and ready for the simple life. we've just been taking our time trying to figure out where we go from here. luckily, we both have the same dreams as far as what we want our lives to be. we both want the same things, we both want the simple life. we are great lovers of the outdoors. we want to own a boat that we can take out on lakes. we want a porch or deck that we can drink our morning coffee on, while looking at a nice lake. it's very simple things we want, and thankfully they are things that we both want and agree on.
since i was a little girl, i've been telling my family that i was going to live by water when i grow up. when brett & i talk about what we want our lives to be in the future, we always say the same things: we just want to live by a lake, own a boat, have kids, and be happy. pretty much my ultimate dream life would be to live in a house by a lake, happily married with kids, and not be too far of a drive from our families.

we are now at the point in our lives, where we are starting to make decisions like this. with brett now looking for a new job, this is kind of allowing us to really kick-start things and start acting on all our ideas. we can have talks of where should we live, what should we do. and it's exciting! we've been looking at different areas of where we might enjoy living. we have realized that, while pittsburgh has been fun, it just not the place for us right now. we want to experience other areas and not get stuck living somewhere when we haven't explored all our options. we aren't the type of people to just settle somewhere because it's easy and we're in a routine. i'm really looking forward to what lies ahead for us!
change is exciting and i'm ready for a new adventure!*

“Twenty years from now
you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do
than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”

"face down in the grass in the park in the middle of hot afternoon"

good morning loves!*

hope you're all getting ready for the weekend! looks like it's going to be a beautiful day! i've got a lot going on this weekend... brett & i are planning on going to the pirates game tonight (as long as the weather cooperates). then tomorrow, we'll be up bright & early to head to erie to partake in numerous events:

kelly's (brett's little sister) track meet
dan & breanne's (good friends) stag n drag
our engagement photo shoot session!

so we have a jam-packed weekend ahead of us, but at least it's all fun stuff! yesterday, i had a dentist appointment (no cavities!) and then brett & i grabbed a pizza & some beer and headed to the park for a little evening picnic. the weather was perfect.

we are so distraught over not having a porch at our current apartment to hang out on on gorgeous days like this... but at least this park is just down the street. we can walk there, kick off our shoes, and run around in the grass! it'll do for now...

what is everyone up to this weekend?!

ps - check out day 2 of my 365 photo project :)

365 in year 25

hi guys!

so i've been seeing a lot of people taking part in the 365 photo project.
basically, you just take a picture every single day for an entire year. it can be a picture of anything: yourself, something you ate, someone you met, something you did, etc.
here's a little article i found that kind of explains it.

i discovered this little project a couple months ago and i thought it would be really fun to do! i love the idea of having documentation from every single day of an entire year to look back on when i'm older. i just think it's such a neat idea. so i decided to start this project on my 25th birthday... today! so today will be my first photo and the project will conclude on my 26th birthday. and who knows, maybe i'll continue it for another year after that, and after that, and after that.... :)

anyways, i made a blog especially for my project:
365 in year 25

so here we go.... i'm excited!

i'm 25 today!!

"just swing and be content"

"breathing in the hot summertime air
staring up at the crisp yellow moon
wishing on faint morning stars
letting the conversation fly free at ease
with nowhere to go
just swing and be content
with the nightly morn and yourself
and the people beside you
the people who know you better
than the stars know the moon"

last night after dinner,
fiancé & i walked over to harris grill for drinks on the patio.
it made me miss having a porch so bad.
just to sit outside on a summer evening, relaxing & talking

mixed berry green tea

mixed berry green tea reminds me of
driving through staten island in november 2008
with my (now) fiancé in our rented pt cruiser
only to find out that the only bridge to manhattan
was close for a marathon and we had to drive all the way back.
i was drinking hot mixed berry green tea
that fiancé made special for me at the hotel that morning
with one pack of splenda, just how i like it.
i love him.

Happy Tulip Day

Well, according to my hoops & yoyo calendar, today is Tulip Day. So...
Happy Tulip Day!
Can we just take today to appreciate how much beauty tulips bring into the world?!

outvalues all the utilities of the world."

~Eye Candy~

Today is cold and dreary and rainy.
I don't know about you, but on days like this
I need a little eye candy inspiration...
and here it is:

Ahh, that's better.
Now let's stay inside and away from the windows,
so we don't realize what it's really like outside today.
Deal? Deal.

3 Months Until I'm a Wifey!

Hi everyone!

TGIF! It's Friday morning, I've got my iced coffee, and it's going to 82 degrees and sunny today. I'd say we're off to a good start! So I've decided that I'm not going to do the 'Things I Loved About This Week' post EVERY Friday. I've decided that I'm only going to do it when the inspiration hits me. I don't want to be forced to do specific blog posts on specific days. So now they will be spontaneous, so look out!

My fiance, Brett was in Colorado all last week visiting a friend and he sent me some pretty cool pictures that I thought I'd share. I've never been out west, so these mountains are just awesome to me:

~driving through Colorado~

~Red Rocks!~

~view on a hike Brett took~

Aren't these views awesome?! Brett says he's going to have to take me there someday because the scenery is just unreal and so different than the east coast. I'm holding him to that. :)

On Wednesday, we went out for Cinco De Mayo! We took the bus downtown, went to happy hour, frolicked in the park down by the point, then headed over to Station Square for dinner & drinks at Houlihans! Now some pictures...

It was a fun day and the weather was goregous! I'm looking forward to many more beautiful sunny days like this! It's May and the start of summer... so that means that our lives are just getting busier and busier with weddings, events, birthdays, and a million other things. Busy busy but really fun stuff, so I'm excited!! Hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend! And treat your mother extra special on Sunday, it's Mother's Day!*
PS - Exactly 3 months until I'm a wifey :)

Check out my blog post on my wedding blog over here. :)

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

It is a BEAUTIFUL day! Doesn't that margarita look delicious?? I may need to indulge in one tonight. I love the month of May! It's the month where Spring really starts to shine through, you start getting excited for summer, and it's my birthday! May is just happiness to me, much like the rest of the summer months - it's my favorite season. :)

Tonight, Brett and I are planning on going down to Station Square & heading to Houlihan's for their Cinco De Mayo specials of margaritas and wild mushroom enchiladas... ole! We also plan on frolicking through the park downtown by the Point, because it is just such a perfect day for frolicking...

Have a fantatic day!*

I know I haven't posted in a while. It's probably because for the last couple weeks, I have been physically and mentally preparing to run a marathon. Well, I hope to be back into regular blog posts now because.... I DID IT!! I ran and FINISHED the Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday, May 2nd!!! Here we are at the finish line with our marathon medals:

It's truly an amazing, amazing feeling! To read my full recap of the marathon, visit my health and fitness blog.

So now back to regular blog postings, I promise!*
