A Mario Hat for Our Tree!

...scenes from the weekend...

Christmas donuts & coffee in my Santa mug... tis the season!

Brett brought me home the prettiest Christmas poinsettia!

Got this in the mail... the invitation to my baby shower!!
My mom and little sister designed it and it is the CUTEST things I've ever seen!!

Brett thought it would be funny to have a photo shoot ON my baby bump haha :)

We bought the little guy some "Christmas presents"...
just couldn't resist!  How cute are baby clothes!!

Got most of our wrapping done this weekend!

My mom and Brita came over Sunday night for dinner and brought this Mario hat!
(Our baby's nickname is "Mario" haha so it's the perfect addition to our tree!)

Only a few more days until Christmas and the holiday craziness begins!
(but who am I kidding, the craziness has been in full force for a while now...)
Happy Holidays!*

It's Christmas Tiiiime in the City...

Last night, Brett and I went downtown for a little date night!  We wandered around the city (in the freezing cold!), looking at all the festive Christmas lights and checking out the Christmas Village in Market Square.  Then, we warmed up at Butcher and the Rye with some drinks and eventually headed over to Meat and Potatoes for dinner!

...a little grainy selfie just because =)

It was the perfect little night out on the town!
Happy weekend, everyone!*

(PS - Today I am officially 30 weeks pregnant!  Ahh!!)

Christmassy Things & Mini Toms!

...scenes from the weekend...

Mmm sipping chocolate coffee by the Christmas tree

We hung out at my parent's house on Saturday night and came home
with these adorable new stockings my mom made us!!

Sunday was spend de-cluttering and reorganizing to make room for the little babe...
and while cleaning, I found these adorable mini Toms that my brother gave me years ago!
I can't wait for our little guy to wear them!

Winding down from the weekend with some board games, Christmas music,
and views of that sparkly tree =)

Cheers!*

Adventures From Our Cross-Country Road Trip -- A Little Video!

So, I've been wanting to make a little video from our cross-country road trip for a while now... and I finally got around to doing it!  Watching this brings back so many awesome memories.  This was definitely one of the best experiences of our lives!  I highly suggest that everyone takes at least one cross-country road trip in their lives.  It is sooo worth it!

Enjoy!*

Ah, so much fun!  I want to do it again! :)

Christmas Tree Adventure 2014!

Last Saturday, Brett and I headed out into the countryside to pick out our Christmas tree!
We had to trudge through the mud and rain, but we got it!

And after stopping for hot chocolate, we got home and set it up in the living room all ready to be decorated.  We got about half way up the tree when we realized we were out of lights!  So our poor Christmas tree sat half decorated for a few days until we got more.

But of course, as soon as we could, we finished the lights and added our ornaments.  And now our Christmas tree is shining bright!  Its got a crooked trunk and some off-center branches, but it's perfectly imperfect to us!

Can't we leave the Christmas tree up all year round?!
Cheers!*

Live Music, Birth Center Tour, & Finding the Perfect Christmas Tree!

...scenes from the weekend...

Friday night date night!
Thai Cuisine (including Thai pulled pork!) and live music at the Thunderbird Cafe

Saturday morning birth center tour!!
This got me so excited for February!  The birth center is beautiful and the suites are huge!

Christmas tree adventures!  And we found the perfect one!

And homemade pizza while decorating the house!

We ran out of lights half way up the tree, so it was only half decorated for a few days :)

Hooray for awesome weekends!
I looove this time of year!*

Thanksgiving Weekend 2014

...scenes from the nice long holiday weekend...

We spent Thanksgiving Thursday in Erie with the in-laws, then made our way home to Pittsburgh for a second Thanksgiving celebration on Saturday (at our house!) with my family!  And now I cannot eat anymore turkey for a long long time. ;)

Brett ran the Turkey Trot 10k on Thanksgiving morning at Presque Isle along the lake!
(He came in 10th place overall!  Go Babe!)
Then we feasted on our 1st Thanksgiving dinner of the weekend.

And when we made our way back to Pittsburgh, it was time for Thanksgiving #2!
Brett made an awesome beer brined turkey and my parents brought me a whole
growler of my favorite ginger ale from Hitchhiker Brewing Co!

My family also has a yearly crazy gift exchange on Thanksgiving
and this year's theme was crazy hats!
I'd say it was a success :)

And on Sunday, the last day of the long weekend, we took care of some baby business!
Baby gear researching, baby registering, and a nice little walk on the trail thrown in there, too :)

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend
and now I say, bring on the Christmas music!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope you are all enjoying this nice long holiday weekend with family and friends!  Last year we were living in California and couldn't spend the holidays with our families.  So this year, we are extra thankful to be back on the east coast to partake in all the fun festivities with everyone!

Cheers to togetherness!*

New Cars & Jogger Strollers

...scenes from the weekend...

Friday night pizza & game night!
(we're kind of obsessed with 'Ticket to Ride'...)

On Saturday, we sold Brett's Honda civic!
It was sad to see it go - lots of great memories with this car!

But it was on to bigger and newer things!
We bought a 2015 Subaru Forester!

And the sales guy even gave us a cute bear for the little babe :)

There she is!  We're in love with it already!
Pictured outside of Babies R Us on Sunday haha ;)

Where we finally started our registry!
Testing out baby stuff with an engineer is a hilarious event -
everything gets the full run down, including running through the aisles with the jogger strollers :)

And then we made our way over to my parent's house for Sunday night dinner!

What a great and productive weekend!
And happy 3 day workweek!
Bring on the turkey!*

Airplanes, Virgin Mojitos, & Obsessive Game Playing

Wow, it's already Thursday!  This week is flying by and I have no complaints about that.  Just wanted to pop in to share some pictures from our visit to Lee & Jess's (bro & sis-in-law) in Maryland last weekend.  We made it a three day weekend and had a blast!

On Friday, while Lee & Jess were working, Brett and I visited the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum.  This museum is out in Virginia near the Washington, DC airport.  This one is muuuch bigger than the Air and Space Museum in downtown DC and super cool!  It has an observatory tower that you can go up and watch planes coming into the airport next door.  It also is home to the Space Shuttle Discovery, which is gigantic and awesome!  We had a great time exploring this museum!

(25 weeks!  Starting to feel huge... haha)

After spending some time at the museum, we stopped at Lost Rhino Brewing Company for some beverages.  While I wish I could have been drinking beer, their house made root beer was pretty delicious!  We also ate some tasty nachos before heading back to Lee & Jess's for a fun game night!

On Saturday, the four of us made our way down to downtown DC for some exploring!  We checked out one museum, including a cool installment all about the American flag, and wandered around the National Mall a bit.  It was pretty chilly but at least the sun was shining!

And then we headed over to Chinatown for a deliiiicious Thai lunch,
including mojitos (virgin for me...)!

Saturday night consisted of more games!  We kind of became obsessed with a few games throughout the course of the weekend: Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Mario Party on Wii.  We are nerds, but had so much fun! Haha

And on Sunday, we said our goodbyes and made our way home.
Thanks for having us, Lee and Jess!
(Can't wait to see you guys at Thanksgiving!)

What a great little mini getaway!*
