Couples Weekend in Columbus

Hello and happy Thursday!  As of yesterday, it's officially SUMMER!

This past weekend, Brett and I were lucky enough to sneak off to Columbus for a little getaway!  My parents watched Elijah for a few days, so we could spend some time together without having to parent a toddler. :)  We left on Friday afternoon and came home Sunday morning.  We biked, we ate, we napped, we drank.  It was just what we needed as a couple to relax and reset.

We stayed at this adorable little airbnb close to downtown...

On Friday night, we headed over to Pins Mechanical which is a bar but also has tons of games and duck pin bowling.  It was SO fun!  And then after walking around downtown for a while, we ended up at a delicious taco place for dinner.

On Saturday morning, we slept in until like 9:30am (this is sooo late when you have a toddler)!  And then made our way over to the cutest little cafe for breakfast, where we had coffee, croissants, and macaroons.  Yum!

And once we digested, we headed out for an awesome bike ride all around Columbus!  They have some great bike trails in this city and the weather was perfect!

We were starving after our big bike ride, so we grabbed lunch at a local brewery (the food was good, but the beer was meh).  And then we deemed it time to take a nap in the park!  You gotta take advantage of this kind of stuff when you don't have your toddler with you!

After an hour or so, we eventually got moving and showered and headed out for the night!  First stop was another brewery - which DID have delicious beer and an awesome mexican food truck parked out front!  Their guacomole was sooo good!

After a few beers, we decided to make our way to dinner at a delicious italian restaurant downtown.  Oh, and ended the night with some ice cream. :)

It was the perfect weekend getaway.
Cheers!!*

Rock n Roll, Greensky Bluegrass, and Breweries I Couldn't Drink At :)

Happy New Year!!*  We had a great holiday break, filled with lots of family, friends, and traveling.  After numerous Christmas celebrations, we hit the road for a few days for a New Years trip!  We were originally going to drive down to North Carolina to see the Avett Brothers play a New Years Eve show, but decided it was too far of a drive for this super pregnant gal!  So instead, we took a mini trip to Ohio and Michigan filled with lots of music!

First, we stopped in Cleveland for a night!

...Rock n Roll Hall of Fame...
Lots of awesome music memorabilia from some of our favorite bands!

...Great Lakes Brewing Co...
Delicious dinner & fun selfies in the freezing cold!

...Fat Head's Brewery...
Awesome home-brewed root beer & a fun bowling game!

After Ohio, we made our way over to Michigan!

...Jolly Pumpkin Brewery...
Beer samples for Brett, virgin mojitos for me,
and stocking up on sour beers for me to drink after the baby comes!

...hotel hangs...
And realizing that my belly is officially big enough to be a shelf :)

...Greensky Bluegrass...
Our main reason for this trip!
Greensky Bluegrass concert on New Years Eve!  So FUN!

And I couldn't help but take this little onesie home from the show :)

What a fun trip!!  And now it's 2015!  Can you believe it!?
CHEERS!*

Scenes from the Weekend

Camping weekend at Mohican State Park in Ohio!
(Brett's sister Kelly came & met us too!)

Busted out the big tent for this trip
(I don't think we've used it since our cross-country trip last summer!)

The weather was so perfect all weekend long

Introducing Kelly to a little bit of mountain biking!

After our successful mountain bike ride

We found a fire tower and climbed to the top for some awesome views

And checked out the covered bridge on the other side of the park

And did a short hike to this big waterfall

Then we drove home and capped off the weekend with a delicious dinner made by Brett!

Another great weekend spent completely outside!  We had no cell service the entire time we were camping, which was a nice and welcome change.  The weather was insanely beautiful (70s & 80s!) and so different from last weekend's camping trip (lows in the 30s!).  And now we only have a 3 day work week before we head out on our next adventure: our Blue Ridge Mountains vacation with Lee & Jess!  Hooray for fun!*

Hiking the Archer Fork Loop Trail

A few more pictures from our weekend hike on the Archer Fork Loop Trail...

There were so many unexpected features of this trail!  A great cave, natural bridge, connector loops to other trails, etc... so cool!  We got a late start so we didn't have time to do the full 9.5 mile hike, but from what we did do, we had a blast.  And then we headed down the mountain and set up camp at a great campground right along the river (Leith Run Campground) and it only cost $7.50!  We love discovering awesome outdoorsy areas that we can return to in the future.  We will definitely be back this summer!

Did any of you get outside this weekend?!*

Scenes from the Weekend

A little bit of Mmmhops to start the weekend

Homemade pizza night with our new pizza peel!
(We are just so official now!)

Brett brought home surprise treats from Bethel Bakery on Saturday morning
(Best husband ever award!)

Took a little road trip to Ohio & West Virginia to spend lots of time outside
(Hiking the Archers Fork Trail)

First camping of the year!
(It was chilly overnight, but we were too impatient to wait any longer for camping season to begin!)

Downtown Marietta is pretty cute

Dinner & beers at Marietta Brewing Co
(Honestly, we didn't love their beers, but the atmosphere was pretty cool)

Brett's first mountain biking race!

He came in 6th place!
(So proud of him!)

Mountain State Brewing Co while stopping in Morgantown on our way home
(Loooved this place!)

They have a hand-built pizza oven at the brewery!
(And the pizza was delicious!)

Ending the weekend with a mandatory froyo stop :)
(Would you really expect anything less...)

This weekend gave us a taste of what's to come this spring and summer.  Spending all our time outside camping, hiking, biking, and just enjoying the great weather.  Being outside is literally my favorite thing.  I can't wait until it's a daily happening!  Cheers!*
