Savannah, Georgia

I can't believe it's already been almost 2 months since our Hilton Head Island vacation.  I've been a bad blogger & haven't taken the time to sit down and do a few recap posts from our trip until now!  So here we go...

Hilton Head Island is about a 12 hour drive from Pittsburgh.  And we drove it.  Yeah.  On our way down, we made a stop in Virginia to hike part of the Appalachian Trail!  We only hiked about 3 miles, but it was a fun way to stretch our legs.  We even saw a couple "through" hikers.

After our wilderness adventure, we continued driving south and spent the night in Columbia, SC to break up the drive a bit.  Turns out, Columbia is a pretty cool little town!  They even had an awesome brewery: Hunter-Gatherer Brewery.  If you're ever in the area, I highly suggest you check it out!

The next morning, we thought it'd be fun to stop in Savannah, GA on our way to Hilton Head since it was only about 45 minutes out of the way.  I've always heard about how great Savannah is and have wanted to check it out for a long time.  It definitely lived up to my expectations; such a beautiful town!

The trees were so dreamy...

I'm so glad we decided to stop in Savannah.  We could have relaxed in these whimsical parks all day long.  But alas, we could not... it was onto Hilton Head Island!

{5 Things I Loved About This Weekend}

This weekend we were thrown off a bit from our original plans due to the weather being craptastic... We had plans to camp all weekend, but with the random spurts of torrential downpours, we vetoed that plan pretty quickly.  But regardless, we still made the best of it!  It was Brett's birthday weekend after all!

Here are 5 things I loved about this weekend...

1.  Beers, dinner, & live music outside on the cobblestones of Penn Brewery

2.  Rock climbing, hiking, & adventuring around Coopers Rock between the rain storms

3.  Celebrating Brett's 28th birthday

4.  Going to Trax Farms & coming home with some plants & herbs for our backyard

5.  Ending the weekend with a relaxing date night at home with hummus, bread, & homemade pizza

What did you love about this weekend?*

Happy Birthday Babe!

Happy 28th Birthday to my sweet husband Brett!*

Aren't I lucky to be married to the cutest man on earth??
And not only is he cute, he is also the sweetest guy I ever did know!
(Not to mention, but I'm mentioning it... the best cook ever!)

Ok, enough with the mush.
Babe, I'm looking forward to celebrating your birth all weekend long!
Here's to many many many more years of fun!

Love you :)

Let's Go for a Hike...

{Mingo Creek Park}  Lately, Brett and I have been trying to get out of the house and do more fun things on the weeknights.  Often times, we get stuck in this routine of: work, come home, go running, shower, dinner, pass out.  And that is just no way to spend these precious summer days.

So a couple nights ago, we packed the cooler, jumped in the car, and cruised over to Mingo Creek Park.  We went for a hike, then found a quiet little spot in the park and had ourselves a picnic.  Complete with pretzels, hummus, raspberries, veggie burgers, salads, and a couple beers (shh, don't tell the park rangers...).  Oh, there was also a lot of swinging and frisbee playing.

This is summertime to me.  Looking forward to many more weeknight adventures to come...

{5 Things I Loved About This Weekend}

This weekend was a good one.  A real SUMMERY weekend.  We spent most of it outside, which is my favorite.  I'm trying my best to soak up every single summery day because I know it's going to fly by way too fast.

Here are 5 things I loved about this weekend...

1.  Biking the trail to get froyo

2.  Spending Saturday afternoon biking the rails & trails with the (super cute!) husband

3.  Coming across "The Love Shack" on our bike ride

4.  Water skiing on Edinboro Lake

5.  Enjoying time spent at Edinboro Lake with the Hehers & especially my two cutie nephews
