Our Calvin & Hobbes Mural for the Nursery!!

Happy Friday!  I am officially 36 weeks pregnant, whoa!  Only 4 weeks to go until my due date, but it really could be any day now from here on out!

Back when I was in my 2nd trimester, Brett and I started thinking about what we wanted the nursery to look like.  We have both always loved the Calvin and Hobbes comic books and have almost all of them between the two of us.  Well, back in October, when we found out we were having a BOY (!!), we just knew we had to use a Calvin and Hobbes theme!

And for some crazy reason, I decided to take it upon myself to actually paint a Calvin and Hobbes wall mural in the nursery.  We figured out which picture we wanted to use and then I finally got around to working on it at the beginning of January.  I sketched the picture on the wall in pencil and then had my mom and sister help me with the painting.  All in all, it only took us two full days of work!  And I seriously could not be more happy with it!

Here's the process of how it went from start to finish...

I am seriously so obsessed with it!  Every time I walk by this room, I find myself stopping just to stare at it.  I love it so much.  And I really hope baby boy loves it too!!  Now, we are just finishing up organizing the rest of the nursery with furniture, clothes, and all those other little details.  Hopefully once it's officially done, I will post some pictures of the whole nursery!  Hooray! =)

Time is flying fast these days!  I'm 34 weeks (soon to be 35 weeks) pregnant and my due date is right around the corner!  My mother-in-law threw me a 2nd baby shower this past weekend (which I totally forgot to take any pictures of) and now we have almost everything we need for the little babe's arrival.  Sorting through everything and organizing the nursery is getting me so excited for this baby boy to join our family!  Only a few more weeks to go... ahh! =)

Our Baby Shower!!

This past Saturday, my mom threw us the most adorable baby shower!!  Since our baby boy is due in late February, she made it a winter snowman theme and her crafty decorations were so cute!  We made it a co-ed shower and it was so much FUN!  Adding guys to the mix of baby gear and baby bingo made everything so hilarious and awesome.  We had such a great time!

We received so many amazing and thoughtful things from our family and friends.  This little babe is already so loved by so many and he isn't even here yet!  This whole day just got me that much more excited for his arrival.  Ahh, I can't wait!  Only a few more weeks to go!!*

Our Gender Reveal Party -- The Video!

Our Gender Reveal Party!!

Even though I already announced that we're having a BOY (!!), I wanted to share some pictures from our gender reveal party because it was so . much . fun!  We had the party at our house and our families came from far and wide to be with us for this exciting occasion.  We are so lucky to have such awesome families!  This little babe already has so many people that love him and he hasn't even arrived yet!

And now onto some pictures...

Along with tons of awesome food and blue/pink treats (which went un-photographed, oops!), we had a $1 gender raffle, boy and girl pins to wear, and fun old wives tales to help the guests decide on their vote.  It was a big hit with everyone, I think!  Oh, and my mom surprised me with a FROYO BAR for dessert (which also went un-photographed, I was too excited I guess haha)!!

And, of course, the big reveal!!

It was seriously the best day!  We had so much fun finding out the gender of our baby with our families.  And we could not be more EXCITED that our little babe is a BOY!  We are already picturing all the fun things we're going to do with him... camping, biking, going on lots of adventures, the list goes on and on! :)

Boy or Girl?

This is the question that has been running through our minds for the past 20 weeks... and finally, this weekend, we will know the answer!  We are having our families over on Sunday for a gender reveal party and I am so excited.  I've been having fun crafting all week in preparation for the big day. :)

We had our ultrasound almost two weeks ago and had the doctor write the gender on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope.  This envelope has been sitting in our house (out of sight, out of mind... yeah right!) for the past two weeks slowly eating away at our curiosity.  My mom is having one of her friends prepare the reveal so we (and our families) will all find out the big news together at the same time!

People have been asking us if we are hoping for a boy or a girl more and to be completely honest, both Brett and I couldn't care less.  Once you are pregnant and start reading about all the crazy things that can happen to your baby, the whole 'desired gender' thing goes right out the window.  All we want is a happy and healthy baby, no matter what the gender!  Though I will say that we both have this weird feeling that it is a girl.  I've been having dreams that it's a girl and I just get this strong intuition that it's a girl.  I really have no idea why!

But on Sunday, we will know for sure!!  Ahh, let's make these next two days fly by, okay?! :) :)
