Scenes from the Weekend

Stumbled upon an awesome bar in Costa Mesa Friday night: Goat Hill Tavern
Then met up with our friend Brandon for dinner and drinks - fun times!

Saturday morning breakfast on the beach!

Headed up to the mountains for a hike in the Cleveland National Forest

We made patatas bravas!!
(An authentic Spanish dish that we ate almost every night while we were in Spain - so delicious!)

A leisurely Sunday walk around Irvine Regional Park while Brett mountain biked

Sunday afternoon beers at Noble Ale Works!

And winding down from the weekend with some tasty snacks, delicious wine, and our owl friend =)

Lots on the agenda for this week, so here we go!
Happy (?) Monday!*

Scenes from the Weekend

Kicking off the weekend with pumpkin spice pancakes

Saturday afternoon spent roaming around (crazy & entertaining) Venice Beach

October = empty beaches (and lots of sail boats!)

Did you know Venice Beach has their own "canals" too?

I wouldn't mind relaxing in that hammock for a while =)

Found a cool record store in Long Beach
(and bought two new albums: Gov't Mule & Robert Randolph!)

Checked out the Long Beach location of Beachwood BBQ for dinner & beers
(and ran into a Zombie Fest right outside - creepy!)

Went for a nice Sunday morning run around the neighborhood

Followed by some beer tastings at the Bruery

And ended the weekend on a sweet note (with Halloween sprinkles & everything!)

We had a fun weekend exploring!
Happy Monday!*

"Sing it if you know it..."

I purposely timed my parents visit last week with Hanson's tour schedule, so that my mom and I would be able to go to a concert together.  Yeah I did!  My mom and I have been going to Hanson concerts together since 1997.  That's 16 years.  I'd call it something special we've got going on between us, for sure.  This particular show in Anaheim last week marked my 30th Hanson concert.

And what's a Hanson concert without a little walk first!

And later that night, our 30th Hanson concert.
And it was AMAZING.

And since we weren't too far away,
we squeezed in another walk the next day on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood =)

I am so happy I got to have this West Coast Hanson experience with my Mom.

I love this band.

Adventures with Lee & Jess

Well, our house guests have officially left as of 4am this morning.  We had so much fun having Lee & Jess here visiting.  We took them to all our favorite spots and but also had just as much fun hanging at our apartment playing endless rounds of Cards Against Humanity.

...introduced them to our favorite beach town: San Clemente...

...gave them their first awesome Pizza Port experience...

...and took them to various other breweries that we love, including the Bruery...

It was sooo nice having family here and being able to hang out with some of our favorite people.  We always have the best time together!

Lee and Jess, we miss you already!
Hope your flights go smoothly today and you get home safe!
Come back and visit again soon! :)

FRIDAY!!

This week has been a good one!  Almost every night, we had something fun going on.  On Monday & Tuesday, we went to the Anaheim Angels vs. Cleveland Indians games.  Brett has always been a big Indians fan, so he was excited (and the Indians won both nights!).  We would have a few beers at a nearby brewery: Noble Ale Works and then walk over to the stadium for the game.  So fun!

And then last night, we headed down to San Clemente for some music on the beach!  We sat in the sand, watched the sun set, and listened to the fun sounds of a reggae band on the stage.  And then, of course, we walked up to Pizza Port for some brews!  A visit to San Clemente is never complete without a stop at Pizza Port.  :)  Ah, I love San Clemente.

It has been a great week!  AND it's going to be an even better weekend because Lee & Jess (my brother and sister-in-law) are visiting!!!  We are meeting them tonight at Stone Brewing Co. for dinner and then heading back to our place for a weekend full of awesomeness!  Can't wait!

Have a great weekend!!*
