Scenes from the Weekend

Spent all day on Saturday wandering around Joshua Tree!

It was chilly, but awesome

Our friend Brandon came along with us

I'm really strong, guys

Finished up our hike right as the sun was setting

Stopped at the Joshua Tree gift ship for some cool stickers!

And found the magic school bus

And ended the night at the Joshua Tree Saloon before heading home

Look, In-n-Out is getting all festive for the holidays!

Checked out some new breweries on Sunday: Iron Fist and Barrel Harbor
(honestly, we weren't impressed with either of them)

So we went where we knew we could get some good beers: The Lost Abbey!

And ended the night at Stone Brewing Company!

Now that we are officially moving home to Pittsburgh in a few weeks, we are trying to squeeze in as many things as possible that we want to do here in California before we leave.  It is definitely bittersweet.  We are going to miss a lot of things about California, but we are also really excited to get home.  But with these few short weeks that we do have left here, we are making them count!  And also stocking up on all our favorite beers to take home with us to the east coast. ;)

Cheers!!*
We should probably start packing...

Pittsburgh!!*

We're moving home!!*

As it turns out, California just isn't the right place for us.  We are east coast souls through and through.  While we've had so much fun living here in California, we know that we belong in Pittsburgh.  This has been an experience of a lifetime for us and we will always look back on this adventure with such fond memories.  But it's time to pack it up and kiss this extended vacation (minus the whole working part...) goodbye.  We only have a few more weeks here before trekking back across the country in hopes of arriving home by Christmas Eve.  Wish us luck!

Who says one cross-country road trip is enough?!  ;)
Let the madness begin!*

San Diego Edition!

Friday...

We stayed at the W Hotel in downtown San Diego all weekend... rooftop bar!

Took a stroll along the waterfront

This cruise ship was massive

Brett and baseball fields... it's a thing!

Roaming around the Gaslamp Quarter -- love this part of town!

Some tasty brews at Modern Times Brewery

Dinner in Little Italy -- So delicious!

There was a chalkboard in our hotel room...
These are Brett's late night doodles.  If you couldn't already guess, that's us! ;)

Saturday...

Our hotel getting "modern festive" for Christmas

A nice long bike ride along the coast of Coronado Island...
we were dangerously close to Mexico in this picture!

Perfect day for a bike ride

Lunch at Coronado Brewing Co. after our bike ride...
oh, and also... Santa and a snowflake (wtf?!)

Beers at Monkey Paw - yum!

Dinner in Little Italy again!  It was just so good!

Yay for Christmas decorations and red wine!

And also for pretty trees and awesome husbands =)

Sunday...

Um, my first breakfast burrito experience ever.
My face doesn't show it, but I actually really liked it!

Wandering around the shops in Old Town San Diego

Such a neat area - picked up a few Christmas presents while we were here =)

Finally checking out Stone Brewing Co's new location at Liberty Station!

Fun times!  While we wish we could have been home for the Thanksgiving weekend, we made the best of it with our time spent in California.  San Diego is always a good time.  Cheers!*

And now with Thanksgiving over...
Bring on the Christmas music!!*

Thanksgiving in California...

Even though we weren't able to make it home for Thanksgiving this year, we still had a great holiday!  A bit different than our normal traditions, but a whole lot of fun nonetheless...

A gorgeous sunset hike at Crystal Cove

Coffee & the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

A glorious bike ride down to the water
(to compensate for the massive consumption of food later...)

Brett prepping our HUGE turkey breast for two
(A whole turkey would have been way too much food)

Happy Thanksgiving from us to you!
It may not be quite the same as home, but we made the best of it =)
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
And now onto CHRISTMAS!!!*

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!*

Aren't these little owl guys so cute?!  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday filled with family, friends, and delicious food.  We are so sad that we can't be spending this Thanksgiving back home with our families.  Holidays just aren't the same without family and friends nearby.  But at least Brett and I have each other!  We're planning on cooking our own mini Thanksgiving feast and then heading out on a little road trip down to San Diego for the rest of the long holiday weekend.  It's not home, but should be fun!

Family, we miss you!
Get ready for a whole bunch of facetiming coming your way! ;)

Back Bay Biking

I have always loved biking -- from a leisurely cruise with my mom to a hardcore mountain biking ride with Brett.  And ever since we bought our road bikes, I have become even more obsessed!  The Back Bay trail is by far my favorite out here in California.  From our apartment, we can ride bike trails all the way down to the back bay and straight on towards the ocean.  I finally took some time to stop and snap a few pictures along my ride this past Sunday...

The views are just awesome.  I'll do a 30 mile ride and barely even notice that I'm tired because I get so caught up in the scenery.  Biking, you're the BEST.
